At the most recent American Association for the Advancement of Science annual meeting, Chair of the Mathematics Department, David Wright, contributed to the topic of Mathematics and Music. Professor Wright discussed overtones and tuning in piano, but most particularly in barbershop quartets and how harmonious sound is achieved in such groups.
