Undergraduate Seminar: "Using Young tableau to Study Representations of Lie Algebras"

Abstract: Representation theory of lie algebras studies how these algebras act on vector spaces. To study the representations, we want to generate a basis and understand how the algebra acts on basis elements. This becomes difficult to compute very quickly. We will discuss how Young tableau with certain properties can translate this problem into a much simpler problem. This talk assumes some knowledge of linear algebra.
