Szego Seminar: K-theory and the Bott Periodicity Theorem

Abstract: This talk will provide an introduction to K-theory, the study of algebraic structures of the space of vector bundles over a fixed space. Namely, there exists a natural direct sum operation that turns the space of vector bundles over a fixed space into a group. We will deal with the space S^n, resulting in the Bott Periodicity Theorem and its fascinating applications.
