Szego Seminar: Convex Polytopes and Their Flag f-vector
Speaker: Cesar Meza, Washington University in St. Louis
Abstract: This talk is an introduction to convex polytopes — the convex hull of finitely many points in Euclidean space — and some of their combinatorial properties. In particular, we will focus on the flag f-vector of a polytope which counts the number of chains of faces of specified dimensions. Other topics include products of polytopes and the face lattice of a polytope. The talk will conclude with a new result on the flag f-vector of the prism over a polytope.
This talk assumes no background knowledge of polytopes or combinatorics.
