Szego Seminar: Algebra Made Easy (with Geometry)

Abstract: Would you rather be reading Introduction to Smooth Manifolds than studying for your algebra quals? If so, this talk is for you! I will discuss how modules over commutative rings are essentially vector bundles over manifolds and how many of the concepts in commutative algebra (Tensor products and localizations and ideals! Oh my!) have natural geometric analogues that make them a breeze to remember come qual time.
