Statistics and Data Science Seminar: "Data-Informed Decision Making During the Covid-19 Pandemic"

Speaker: Lior Rennert, Clemson University

Abstract: Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been a limited supply of essential resources. Limited resources pose daunting decision-making challenges for public health officials. Data-driven models can inform the optimal allocation of resources and be used to guide decision making. This talk will focus on the estimation of testing strategies and vaccination in mitigating SARS-CoV-2 disease spread. We then describe how the integration of such statistical and mathematical models can be used to create a toolkit to predict SARS-CoV-2 prevalence and supply of essential resources in a university setting.
