Geometry and Topology Seminar: "Veering triangulations on Montesinos link complements"

Speaker: Chi Cheuk Tsang, UC Berkeley

Abstract: Montesinos links are the knots and links whose double branched covers are Seifert fibered spaces. Among these, the ones that give unit tangent bundles have a strong connection with geodesic flows. In this talk, we will explain how to construct veering triangulations on such Montesinos link complements by making use of this perspective. Depending on the time, we will also sketch a proof of why these triangulations in fact correspond to the geodesic flows under the Agol-Guéritaud-Schleimer-Segerman correspondence between veering triangulations and pseudo-Anosov flows, and mention a few potential applications of the construction.
