Geometry and Topology Seminar: Rigidity of Totally Geodesic Hypersurfaces in Negative Curvature
Speaker: Ben Lowe, University of Chicago
Abstract: I will talk about some rigidity phenomena involving minimal and totally geodesic hypersurfaces in negatively curved manifolds. I will move from rigidity statements involving curvature, for which the tools include Ricci flow, the Besson-Courtois-Gallot natural maps, and Ratner's theorems from homogeneous dynamics, to curvature-free rigidity statements for which properties of Anosov flows become essential.
