Geometry and Topology Seminar: "Algebraic methods for symplectic embedding problems"

Ben Wormleighton, Washington University in Saint Louis

Abstract: The question of when one symplectic manifold embeds into another is at the core of symplectic geometry. There have been many moments throughout the last thirty years where embedding questions have (mutually) benefited from connections with algebraic geometry, and I will describe some recent instances of this interplay that bring in tools like embedded contact homology from symplectic geometry and positivity of line bundles from algebraic geometry.

Note: this is an in-person talk but we will have a Zoom option available for those who do not want to or cannot attend in person. For Zoom details contact Michael Landry at mlandry@wustl.edu.
