Gauge Theory Seminar: "Filtered instanton Floer homology and the homology cobordism group II"

Speaker: Masaki Taniguchi, University of Tokyo

Abstract: At the end of the 1980s, Floer introduced instanton Floer homology as an adaptation of Morse homology to infinite dimensions for a certain class of 3-manifolds. The instanton Floer homology gives a categorification of the Casson invariant. First, we review how to construct instanton Floer homology. Second, we focus on the construction of filtered instanton homology as a sequel to Sato’s talk.  This is joint work with Nozai Yuta and Kouki Sato.
