Colloquium: The many distributions of divisor functions

Speaker: Matilde Lalin, University of Montreal

Abstract: The divisor function counts the number of positive divisors of a natural number. How can we understand the behavior of this function as it varies over the natural numbers? In this talk, we will discuss strategies for analyzing this function, issues related to the distribution of its values, and connections to the Riemann zeta function and certain groups of random matrices. This talk includes joint work with Vivian Kuperberg.

Host: Wanlin Li

Reception to follow at Cupples I, Room 200 (Lounge) from 2:00 - 3:00 pm.
