"Career Paths of Recent Graduates: An Association for Women in Mathematics 50th Anniversary Panel Discussion"

Abstract: WashU Association for Women in Mathematics and the Undergraduate Seminar are co-hosting a panel discussion with five recent graduates of mathematics degrees. They will discuss their diverse career paths, talk about how they use math in their positions, and share advice with students. Anyone is welcome to attend.

Panelists:

Lauren Ellison graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and minors in computer science and linguistics. She is currently a data scientist at the National Security Agency. 

Madison Ihrig graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2020 with bachelor's degrees in mathematics and classics and a minor in physics. She is currently working on a PhD in Applied Mathematics at Columbia University's Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics.

Yue Ma graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2018 with bachelor's degrees in mathematics and finance and completed a master's degree in quantitative finance at the Rutgers Business School in 2020. She is currently working for Basis Point Global Solutions on fixed income product and constructing optimal portfolio with a pool of optimization techniques.

Parvathi Narayan graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in computer science with a second major in mathematics and a minor in writing. She is currently a business analyst at McKinsey & Company. 

Kairavee Thakkar graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and completed a master's degree in applied mathematics at the University of Cincinnati in 2020. She is currently a working on a PhD in Systems Biology and Physiology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
