Analysis Seminar: "Structure of Operator Systems"

Speaker: Benjamin Passer, United Naval Academy

Abstract: The operator system generated by a tuple T in B(H) only encodes information about unital completely positive maps. In particular, two operator systems may be isomorphic even though they take very different concrete forms. In joint work with Ken Davidson and Orr Shalit, we showed that the smallest presentation of a separable operator system is, however, unique up to unitary equivalence. Further, we used isolated points in the spectrum classify exactly when this smallest presentation exists. These results generalize theorems in the literature about free spectrahedra.
