Analysis Seminar: "Rational Schur functions"

Speaker: Gregory Knese, Washington University in Saint Louis

Abstract: Rational Schur functions simply refer to rational functions which are bounded and analytic on the polydisk or the poly-upper-halfplane.  In contrast to the one variable case, multivariate rational functions can have boundary singularities yet still be bounded.

We will discuss a number of fundamental questions about rational Schur functions, such as: When do rational Schur functions have non-tangential limits on the boundary? When do rational Schur functions have higher order regularity at boundary points? Is it possible to give a local characterization around boundary singularities of when a rational function is bounded?

This is joint work in progress with K. Bickel, J.E. Pascoe, and A. Sola.
