Algebraic Geometry Seminar/Third Year Major Oral Examination: "Exponential motives and periods"

Speaker: Soumya Sinha Babu, Washington University in Saint Louis

Abstract: In this talk, we will be defining exponential motives and periods involving varieties with a potential. We will also construct period realizations of such motives, leading to conjectures that can be used to re-interpret classical results concerning algebraic dependence. Time permitting, we shall be able to furnish examples of interesting numbers that are not expected to be algebraic periods, yet arise naturally from exponential motives.
