Algebraic Geometry Seminar: "Compactified Mirror Families for Log Calabi-Yau Surfaces and Periods"

Abstract: In this talk, we present a compactification of mirror families for positive pairs (Y,D) where Y is a smooth projective surface and D is an anti-canonical cycle of rational curves. It ends up that this compactified family is the universal family of deformations of the original pair (Y,D). To obtain this identification, the period associated to each fiber is computed using techniques from tropical geometry. This is joint work with Yan Zhou.
