AAG Seminar: Completing two-parameter period mappings by nilpotent orbits, Part II
Speaker: Haohua Deng, Duke University
Abstract: The problem of completing period mappings with geometric Hodge-theoretic meaningful extended period image has been long-standing since Griffiths’s question in 1970. In this talk I will report my recent work joint with Colleen Robles on completing period mappings coming from a general variation of polarized Hodge structures over a quasi-projective surface. Indeed, we showed that Kato-Nakayama-Usui’s theory on space of nilpotent orbits can be applied in these general cases.
