AAG Seminar: Ceresa and GKS cycles of modular curves

Abstract: In this talk, I will give an introduction of the motivation, history, and current developments in the study of algebraic cycles. I will present my recent work on the non-vanishing of Ceresa and Gross—Kudla—Schoen modified diagonal cycles associated to modular curves joint with Kerr, Qiu, and Yang.
