The first part of a two-semester course reviewing the mathematical methods essential for the study of physics. Theory of functions of a complex variable, residue theory; review of ordinary differential equations; introduction to partial differential equations; integral transforms. Grading will be based on homework, quizzes, and final exam (no midterm). The class modality will be fully remote. The timing will be synchronous each meeting, though lectures will be recorded for those who have difficulty attending in real time. Prerequisite: undergraduate differential equations (Math 217), or permission of instructor.
