A matrix group is a group of invertible matrices. We will start with examples of matrix groups and continue to an introduction of basic Lie group theory in the framework matrix groups. The topics will include real matrix groups, orthogonal groups, topology on a matrix group, matrix exponentiation, manifold structure on a matrix group, and Lie bracket. Prereqs: Math 233, Math 310 and Math 429. Prerequisite for this course is Math 233, 310 and 429.
