Patricio Gallardo's main area of research is constructing and studying databases, called moduli spaces, of geometric objects.

A central topic of Gallardo's work is the study of compact moduli and parameter spaces whose points parametrize natural classes of varieties and their degenerations. During his professional training, he has both taught and served as a teaching assistant for a variety of classes, including Calculus I, Linear Algebra, and Introduction to Higher Mathematics. He encourages students to explore mathematics from their own perspective and helps them to establish their own relationship with mathematics.
