Professor Martha Precup named the 2026-2027 Ruth I. Michler Prize Recipient by the Association for Women in Mathematics

Martha Precup is the recipient of the 2026-2027 Ruth I. Michler Prize for her research interests which center on the rich combinatorics and algebraic geometry that arise in the study of flag varieties. In her semester at Cornell, she plans to expand on her recent work on Hessenberg varieties and Springer fibers.

From the website: "The Ruth I. Michler Memorial Prize of the [Association for Women in Mathematics] is awarded annually to a woman recently promoted to Associate Professor or an equivalent position in the mathematical sciences. The prize provides a fellowship for the awardee to spend a semester in the Mathematics Department of Cornell University without teaching obligations.

The Ruth I. Michler Memorial Prize will honor outstanding women at this stage of their careers and enable them to focus on their research in the stimulating environment of the Cornell University Mathematics Department."
