Algebra & Combinatorics
The study of algebraic structures is a classical topic, with close connections to other areas of mathematics, most notably geometry and number theory. Members of the algebra group at Washington University study algebraic and arithmetic geometry, algebraic K-theory, commutative algebra, Hodge theory, Lie theory and representation theory, and connections between algebra, geometry, combinatorics and mathematical physics.
