Third Year Candidacy Requirement: "Moduli spaces of K3 Surfaces: Constructions, Compactifications and their properties"

Speaker: Haohua Deng, Washington University in Saint Louis

Abstract: As one of the classical cases, the period maps and period domains of K3 surfaces have been studied for decades. In this talk I am going to give a brief review on some basic facts about the moduli spaces of K3 surfaces as well as talk about its GIT Compactification, Baily-Borel Compactification and their relations. I will introduce some concepts from Mumford’s Toroidal Compactification if time allows.
