Szego Seminar: "Galerkin methods for integral operators."

Abstract: The Poisson equation (I-P)g=f for given P and f is a well known problem in analysis and engineering. The Galerkin method provides an efficient way to solve this equation. In this talk we’ll introduce the Galerkin method and discuss applications of this method, such as variance reduction and variance estimation for MCMC and central limit theorems.
