Algebraic Geometry Seminar: "Degenerating variations of Hodge structure, revisited"

Speaker: Christian Schnell, Stony Brook University

Abstract: In 1973, Schmid published a very important paper about the asymptotic behavior of polarized variations of Hodge structure on the punctured disk. In the talk, I am going to explain a simple direct proof for Schmid's Hodge norm estimates (which relate the weight filtration and the order of growth of the Hodge metric); time permitting, I am also going to talk about some related phenomena that I think are best understood in terms of the Hodge metric.
