Math 415: Partial Differential Equations

Lecture: Tuesday and Thursday, 11:30 am - 1:00 pm in Cupples 2 L001

Office Hours: Monday 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm, Wednesday 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm, and by appointment

Textbook: Partial Differential Equations, An Introduction (second edition) by Walter A. Strauss

Prerequisites: Math 217 and Math 309

Content: I plan to cover the first six chapters of the textbook.


Exams: There will be one midterm and one final:
Midterm: Tuesday, October 11, in class
Final: December 19, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Homework: There will be weekly homework, due on Thursday at the beginning of class. All but your worst homework will count towards your homework grade.

Grading Scheme: Homework: 30%, Midterm: 30%, Final: 40%.


Collaboration: You are allowed to discuss homework problems with other students provided that you have already made a serious attempt to solve the problem yourself. You must write up your solution on your own.

Academic Integrity: All students are expected to adhere to the University's academic integrity policy.
